Susie's father meant that the penguin was inside this snow globe that was like his own little world where no mistakes could happen and nothing could ever go wrong. I don't think Susie considers herself trapped because she can still see Earth and she can find ways to show herself to her family. I don't think Susie thinks her world is perfect because it doesn't have the people that she loves in it and because all that there is in her world is death.
